Samsung has unveiled a 57″ LCD monitor manufactured specially for use as a computer monitor. This monitor that is reportedly targeting the medical market, is claimed to be the largest monitor in its class. It will not be suitable for use as a television monitor as it uses a different panel technology. The Samsung 57″ LCD display features a high resolution of 1920X1080 and a contrast ratio of 1000:1. Samsung has always been a forerunner in the industry when it comes to big screen LCDs. This monitor shows off features such as 600 candela per square meter brightness level, a response time of 8-millisecond and 75 percent color reproduction. It weighs 47 pounds and consumes a maximum power of 350 Watts. The company has not disclosed any price estimates. My guess – the price will be as big as the monitor. Image: ubergizmo More: pcworld
LG LCD TVs : Avant Garde Design
A goof-up with a design, sometimes, gets accepted as a stylish fashion statement. The first time you look at the LS series of LCD TVs from LG, you cana’t help noticing the half-eaten donut shaped pedestal for the TV. And the next moment, you would have a radical change of perspective. This mindset has defined the modern day consumer. If it is different, it sells! And I have no doubts that LG know this fact, too. And rightly so, LG has looked to tap this attitude to its advantage. The LS series of half-donut bottomed TVs comprise the 17″ LS5R, the 19″ LS4R, the 20″ LS3R, and the 22″ LS4R. The stylish quartet come in different designs and color base variations (now thata’s going the extra mile). However, the beauty crown goes to the LS3R, which sports a aFantasya’ styled glowing red pedestal. All the four LCD TVs are HD ready, with three of them (22LS4R, 19LS4R and 20LS3R) equipped with XD Engine Image Processor for better picture quality and resolution in areas like brightness, color and contrast. All the TVs feature an aspect ratio of 16:9, an analog tuner, enhanced noise reduction, a sleep timer, and dynamic 1 Way 2 speakers. These feature-rich TVs will be available in the UK sometime this month. The price hasna’t been disclosed, though. Donut TVs, anybody? Via: ubergizmo, pocket-lint
Best Tournaments to Watch in High Definition
According to WSOP, poker is one of the most popular casino games in the world today. In fact, it is so popular that it had been the subject of many world tournaments that had been broadcast live on high definition television. An example of these popular poker tournaments on television is the World poker tournament where all the poker experts try their luck in playing the game. These popular poker tournaments are no ordinary games because the stakes in the games are very high and would cause the losing player a lot of cash. Another example of a good poker tournament that you can watch on high definition TV is the European Poker Tour. Last year, the event kicked off in London wherein an American poker aficionado by the name of Michael Martin won the 1,000,000 pound price. This was an offset because he only reached second place during the European poker tour grand finals earlier in the year. He was really happy about his winnings because he did not expect it to happen so soon. There are also high definition poker games that you can watch online. An example of this is the Vegas Open Tournament which would be a series of 13 episodes featuring the best poker players in town. You will surely enjoy this poker game because it will be shown in high definition throughout the country. Watching a poker game is more exciting if you can watch it in high definition TV and live streaming. It will definitely feel as though you are there in the flesh participating in the game yourself. Aside from the world poker tournament, there are still many online poker games that you can watch such as the Blogger Poker Tournament and many other tournaments that you can only find in the Vegas casinos.

Monsoon has come up with HAVA Gold and Platinum HD media hubs, which does exactly that. Although, many people are seeing these devices as a substitute for Slingbox but this is certainly not the case because these media hubs contain a unique multicast system, which has ability to stream DVD-quality videos in MPEG-2 form. What’s more, you can share video to multiple locations without diminishing the quality of the image. To give you the top-notch quality, online video is streamed with the assistance of MPEG-4. The best part about these media hubs is that they can accept number of inputs at once. The best HDTVs for the best price
Doesn’t your LCD TV or Plasma TV satiate your eyes? Perhaps, it is time to switch to a HDTV. Short for High Definition Televisions, HDTV’s offer higher (and therefore better) resolution in comparison to other television systems. With conventional TV systems, issues such as weak signals, audio/video imperfections, or low quality sharpness arise every now and then. High Definition televisions require digital broadcasting. This is the reason why HDTV’s provide better quality pictures, and excellent audio quality. Though HDTV has started enjoying a 5-star status among the technology-oriented consumers, it is yet to capture the global market. This is because most people are not aware of the difference between a HDTV and a LCD, or that between a Plasma TV and a HDTV. With a High Definition, you enjoy the clarity of Dolby Digital audio. HDTV can sometimes turn out to be a costly investment. But that is because of the advanced digital features it offers. Therefore, it is important to collect information about its features and functionality before buying one. Online reviews can help you get a better picture of reality. Marketing gimmicks should not fool you into buying a High Definition TV. When reading HDTV reviews, it is important to keep your budget in mind. If, however, you fall in love with a particular brand of HDTV, but do not have the money to purchase it, you can opt for cash loans. What are the features that you should take into consideration while buying a high definition television? The first thing you should look for is the screen size. Next, you should consider the audio quality and resolution. HDTV contrast ratio is yet another factor that must not be overlooked. You should look for a HDTV that can be mounted on a wall. If you want to get theater-like audio quality, and crystal-clear video, you definitely need a high definition TV.
Plasma manufacturers fall behind LCD developers
The plasma manufacturers are not doing well. With the recent boom in LCD screens, plasma manufacturers are fast loosing ground. The recent decline in plasma screen price tags will also see a revenue decline over the year. Back in February (this year), unit sales recorded a $181 million. This is a 16% drop since February ’06. According to iSuppli, the Plasma sales will top out to be $10.2 million. However, they predict that the figures will nose dive after topping out with serious competition from LCD industry. The revenue will start to fall. Ross Rubin, director of industry analysis for The NPD Group said: We’ll likely continue to see average prices continue to drop, but the market still has quite a bit of upside left to it. The current industry boost is mostly due to the healthy competition between all the panel makers. More efficient manufacturing processes as well as lower costs for materials, are couple of other factors that have boosted the plasma industry. The biggest manufacturers of the plasma screen like Matsushita and LG recorded pretty good sales figures during the first quarter of this year. Yet another screen maker Samsung SDI is going pretty strong. As far as I know, various factors contribute to the rise or drop in sales. It’s not always about ratcheting up the screen size or attractive discounts. Plasma manufacturers are always finding new ways to add more features and charge higher prices.
