sony-logo_58 Sony took its customers by surprise by reducing the price of certain HDTVs in both retail stores as well as its Web site by up to $900, even without any sort of pre-information, for the four days from November 24 to 27.

Though the list is very tall, among the major products that were sold on cut-down prices included Sony’s $1,799 50-inch Wega KDF-50E2000 rear-projection TV that was retailed for $500 less than the usual price, the $3,399 40-inch Bravia LCD KDL-40XBR3 was at the stake for $600 less than its actual cost, whereas, the $5,999 70-inch KDS-R70XBR2 was available at $900 discount during that four day window shopping.

The four day sale was not only the pleasant surprise for the customers, who got amazed when they reached the stores for shopping, but it also flabbergasted the analysts who still are wondering on the move by the Sony.

Whatever be the reason behind this step by the Sony, be it a market strategy or the Christmas gift to its customers or something else, but the shoppers really enjoyed the surprise cut-down retailing. Surely, they would love having another one around the Christmas.
