While the virtual war between HD DVD and Blu-ray doesn’t seem to be ending, the first homemade hybrid Blu-ray/HD-DVD player has been made. The system is equipped with the NEC HD DVD drive from Toshiba’s HD A1 set-top player and the Sony internal PC Blu-ray drive that makes it hybrid utilizing the performance of both the players. The system is being powered by WinDVD 8 Platinum. Well, the idea of merging both the drives is appreciable but I would love to see a neat and clean version of the hybrid player, not so cumbersome like this one.
