The high-definition TV market is going through doldrums with Time Warner coming out with less than expected estimates for the market. According to Warner it expects only sale of about 1.5 million devices that play DVD’s will be sold in the USA against the expected 4.5 to 6 million.
The DVDs disc sale is estimated to be around $150 million against the expected estimates of $250 to 400 million.
Analysts believe this dip in sale is due to the ongoing war between DVD / Blu-ray. The costumers are choosing to keep their money in their pockets because many feel that in this war, one will win and the other will be forced out of the market.
Since a HD-DVD player cost around $500 in the market and a Blu-ray around $1000 the consumers are waiting to see how this plays out.
