HDTV world will soon face rivalry within itself with the claims put forth by plasma and LCD technology. Plasma is known for its bigger and flat-screen units, while LCD has dominance over small screen. Since LCD tech has started producing giant screen without its colossal image-projecting equipment therefore, it may surpass the plasma TV. This impact has started to occur as Sony has stopped plasma TV’s production blaming it on high maintenance.
As JOHN BIRKS says:`There’s a future for plasma, but I don’t think it’s strong.’
Since many things have been reported against Plasma as it has about a 40,000-hour life, LCD has about a 60,000-hour life, it is prone to burn-in and it is perceived that plasma uses twice as much power as LCD and a lot more. Energy concern will allow the conservationalists to uphold the tech that is more energy efficient. Let us see whether plasma can batter these hitches or not.
