NEC Ltd. has announced that it has produced a new 21.3-inch LCD module for the medical professionals and will begin shipping samples at the end of October.

The new LCD module is extremely suitable for medical use including diagnosis of radiogram interpretation of X-ray images.

This new model has monochrome ultra extended graphics array (UXGA), amorphous silicon, thin film transistor liquid crystal (TFT LCD) module.

The company claims that it is the highest resolution of 2800×2100, which surpasses even its own top model NL256204AM15-01/01A, which has resolution of 2560×2048. NECs super-fine technology enables this new model to have brightness of 1000 cd/m2 and a contrast ratio of 1000:1. This new model is the upgraded version of NL256204AM15-01/01A launched in 2005.

The commercial production of this new model is slated to begin in mid-2007 and the new product will be displayed at FPD International 2006 in Yakohama, Japan.
