You must be aware that a trial broadcast of high-definition television (HDTV) to terrestrial TV viewers in London was launched about six months ago to give the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Five a clearer picture about delivering HDTV broadcasts to viewers who watch TV through an aerial. The trial featured programmes from all four broadcasters, including the football World Cup, nature series Planet Earth and crime drama CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
Now when the time set for this project is completed, a feedback from people was collected. Most of the participants had a positive reaction and favored the HDTV broadcast program as they found the picture quality much better than they expected.
HDTV broadcasts and set-top boxes are already available to Sky satellite and Telewest cable subscribers.
This kind of favorable reaction may bring in bright future for HDTV broadcast.
