The Ittiam Systems has announced the availability of a ‘High definition Multi Format Video Decoder Engine‘. This engine is a single silicon slab solution for decoding the three video signals i.e. MPEG-2, VC1 and H.264. The new system is called ‘Trinity’ and it can be a solution to the on going war between Blu-ray and HD-DVD.

Ittiam demonstrated a variety of high definition content on a 48-inch flat panel Liquid Crystal Display screen.

Commenting on their product CEO of Ittiam Systems Sirini Rajam said ‘The challenge was to squeeze all the associated electronics into smallest possible area - while giving our customers, the freedom to create a variety of devices be they HD TV sets, HD DVD players or interactive set-top boxes using the same basic chip. Trinity will enable DVD player-recorder manufacturers to turn out models for both competing disk types Blu-ray and HD-DVD’.
